For students who wish to explore further — The Library (Perlego) and ABMA Education Resources
Your course content is complete — this is for students who want to go further |
All TLSPH courses are written by specialist subject matter experts (SMEs) who have carefully designed and included everything you need to successfully complete your qualification. You do not need to use any additional resources to pass your course. This guide is for students who enjoy self-directed learning and would like to explore topics beyond their course materials. The resources below are entirely optional and are provided purely as signposting for those who wish to read more widely. |
Section 1 — The Library (Perlego) |
What is Perlego?
Perlego is an online digital library with over one million academic textbooks and publications, covering subjects including medicine, nursing, health and social care, public health, anatomy, safeguarding, and much more. We signpost it here as a resource for students who enjoy reading around their subject and want to explore topics in more depth.
Please note — Perlego is entirely optional and is not part of your TLSPH course |
Perlego is an independent, external service. TLSPH does not pay for your access, provide login details, or manage your Perlego account. If you choose to use it, you will visit the Perlego website, create your own account, and pay for your own subscription. Perlego is not required to complete your course. Any questions about your Perlego account or billing must go to Perlego directly — TLSPH cannot assist with these. |
What does it cost?
Perlego is a paid subscription service. It is not free. You pay for it yourself directly with Perlego.

How to access Perlego — step by step
If you would like to explore Perlego, simply follow these steps. You do not need to tell TLSPH — this is entirely your own account, independent of your course.
1 |
Click The Library link on the TLSPH website Click ‘The Library’ in the TLSPH website navigation. A new tab will open in your browser and take you to the Perlego website. This is completely normal — you have not left your course. Keep both tabs open and switch between them as you need to. |
2 |
Click ‘Sign up to read’ On the Perlego homepage, click the ‘Sign up to read’ button in the top right corner of the page. |
3 |
Enter your details and start your free trial Enter your name, email address, and choose a password. You will be asked for payment details to begin the 14-day free trial — you will not be charged during this period. Make a note of when your trial ends if you do not wish to continue, so you can cancel in time. |
4 |
Choose a plan Select a plan (Essential or Complete) and a billing cycle. If you are unsure, start with Essential on a monthly basis — you can change or cancel at any time from your account settings on the Perlego website. |
5 |
Search for topics that interest you Use the search bar to explore subjects related to your course and beyond. Try searching for ‘public health’, ‘health and social care’, ‘safeguarding’, ‘anatomy’, ‘nursing’, or any topic you would like to read more about. There is no reading list — explore whatever interests you. |
6 |
Read on your phone or tablet too Download the free Perlego app from the App Store (iPhone or iPad) or Google Play Store (Android). Log in with your email and password and your library will be available on any device, even offline. |
TIP |
Perlego has a built-in citation tool, note-taking, and text highlighting — useful if something you read inspires an idea for your coursework or assessments. |
TIP |
For any questions about your Perlego account, billing, or technical issues, contact Perlego directly at help.perlego.com or support@perlego.com. TLSPH is not able to manage Perlego accounts on your behalf. |
Section 2 — ABMA Education Resources |
What are ABMA Education resources?
If you are enrolled on an ABMA Education programme at TLSPH, ABMA Education makes additional learning resources available to support your studies. Like Perlego, these are supplementary — everything you need to complete your qualification is already in your course. These resources are there for students who want to explore topics further or read additional background material.
How ABMA Education resources work — self-signup with a link from TLSPH |
ABMA Education resources use a self-signup process, meaning you create your own account directly on the ABMA Education platform. TLSPH will provide you with the sign-up link you need as part of your enrolment communication — you will receive this by email when your enrolment is confirmed. You do not need to search for it yourself. |
How to access your ABMA Education resources — step by step
1 |
Look for your sign-up link in your TLSPH enrolment email When you enrol on an ABMA Education programme, TLSPH will send you a confirmation email that includes your personal self-signup link for ABMA Education resources. Check your inbox — and your spam or junk folder if you cannot find it. |
2 |
Click your ABMA Education sign-up link Click the link in your TLSPH email. It will open in a new tab in your browser and take you to the ABMA Education registration page. Keep your TLSPH course tab open — you have not left your course. Simply switch between tabs as needed. |
3 |
Create your personal ABMA Education account Follow the on-screen instructions to register. Use the same email address you used when enrolling with TLSPH. Choose a password and complete the form. Once registered, you will have access to the ABMA Education resources associated with your programme. |
4 |
Explore at your own pace Log in to browse ABMA Education’s additional resources whenever you like. There is no requirement to use them — dip in if and when a topic interests you and you want to read more widely. |
TIP |
