This guide covers two optional resources: The Library (Perlego) and ABMA Education resources.
They are here for students who enjoy self-directed learning and would like to explore topics beyond their course materials. They are entirely optional and provided purely as signposting.

All TLSPH courses are written by specialist subject matter experts. They have carefully included everything you need to successfully complete your qualification.
You do not need any additional resources to pass your course.

The Library (Perlego)
What is Perlego?
Perlego is an online digital library with over one million academic textbooks and publications. It covers subjects including medicine, nursing, health and social care, public health, anatomy, safeguarding and much more.
We signpost it here for students who enjoy reading around their subject and want to explore topics in more depth.

What does it cost?
Perlego is a paid subscription service. It is not free. You pay for it yourself directly with Perlego.
Free trial
Perlego offers a 14-day free trial. It is a good way to explore the library before deciding whether to subscribe.
Essential plan
Access to the main Perlego library. Available on monthly, termly (every 4 months) or annual billing. Annual billing works out cheapest.
Complete plan
Everything in Essential plus additional study tools, including Read Aloud and extended features.

How to access Perlego, step by step
You do not need to tell TLSPH. This is entirely your own account, independent of your course.
Visit the Perlego website
Click the Visit Perlego button on this page. A new tab will open in your browser. This is completely normal. You have not left your course, so keep both tabs open and switch between them.
Click "Sign up to read"
On the Perlego homepage, click the "Sign up to read" button in the top right corner of the page.
Start your free trial
Enter your name, email address and a password. You will be asked for payment details to begin the 14-day trial but will not be charged during this period. Note when your trial ends in case you want to cancel in time.
Choose a plan
Select Essential or Complete plus a billing cycle. If you are unsure, start with Essential on a monthly basis. You can change or cancel at any time from your Perlego account settings.
Search for topics
Try searching for "public health", "health and social care", "safeguarding", "anatomy" or "nursing". There is no reading list, so explore whatever interests you.
Read on any device
Download the free Perlego app from the App Store or Google Play. Log in with your email and password to read on any device, even offline.
TIP Perlego has a built-in citation tool, note-taking and text highlighting. These are useful if something you read inspires an idea for your coursework or assessments.
TIP For questions about your Perlego account, billing or technical issues, contact Perlego directly at help.perlego.com or support@perlego.com. TLSPH is not able to manage Perlego accounts on your behalf.

ABMA Education resources
If you are enrolled on an ABMA Education programme at TLSPH, ABMA Education provides additional learning resources to support your studies.
Like Perlego, these are supplementary. Everything you need to complete your qualification is already in your course. They are there for students who want to explore topics further or read additional background material.
How it works
Self-signup with a link from TLSPH
You create your own account directly on the ABMA Education platform.
TLSPH will email you the sign-up link when your enrolment is confirmed. You do not need to search for it yourself. There is no additional cost.
How to access your ABMA Education resources
Find your sign-up link
When you enrol on an ABMA Education programme, TLSPH will send you a confirmation email with your personal sign-up link. Check your inbox and your spam folder.
Click the link
It will open the ABMA Education registration page in a new tab. Keep your TLSPH course tab open. You have not left your course.
Create your account
Follow the on-screen instructions. Use the same email address you enrolled with at TLSPH. Once registered you can access the resources linked to your programme.
Explore at your own pace
Log in to browse ABMA Education resources whenever you like. There is no requirement to use them, so dip in when a topic interests you.
TIP Did not receive your ABMA Education sign-up link? Contact TLSPH and we will resend it to you.
Common questions
Is there a cost?
No. Access to ABMA Education resources is included in your TLSPH programme at no additional cost.
Do I have to use them?
No. These resources are entirely optional. Your course already contains everything you need to complete your qualification.
I already have an ABMA Education account
Contact TLSPH and we will advise you on the best next step.
My sign-up link is not working
Contact TLSPH via the website contact form. We will resend your link promptly.
I have forgotten my password
Go to the ABMA Education login page. Use the "Forgot password" option to reset it.
