BSc Public Health (Online)

Duration: 3 Years | Delivery: Online | Credits: 360 UK Credits | Tutorial Time: Weekly (7 PM – 9 PM UK Time)

What is Public Health?

Public health is the science and art of preventing disease, extending life, and promoting health through the organized efforts of society (Winslow, 1920). Unlike clinical medicine, which focuses on treating individuals, public health seeks to protect and improve the health of entire populations locally, nationally, and globally. It addresses a wide range of issues, including health education, epidemiology, health policy, social determinants of health, and global health challenges such as pandemics and non-communicable diseases.

Studying public health provides students with the tools to understand how health is influenced by biological, social, environmental, and economic factors and how to design and deliver interventions that make a real difference in people’s lives (Tulchinsky and Varavikova, 2014).

Why Study This Course?

Public health professionals play a vital role in shaping the health of populations and communities. The BSc Public Health degree equips students with a strong foundation in public health practice, theory, and policy. As global challenges such as infectious disease outbreaks, health inequalities, climate change, and chronic illness continue to evolve, trained public health graduates are essential for tackling health threats and promoting community wellbeing.

This degree offers students a dynamic, interdisciplinary learning experience that bridges science, policy, sociology, and leadership. Students gain the academic and professional tools necessary to support evidence-based interventions and make real-world impact.
